Inter Centre swimming Gala Returns to Cardiff

October saw Cardiff's first Inter Centre swim school Gala for a long time, and fantastically hosted by Pentwyn Leisure Centre. The last Gala that was held with all centres taking part was well over 15 years ago.

It was amazing for all the Centres swim schools come together under one roof and make the day such a special atmosphere

The teams were made up of the devlopment groups of each Centre. Some Centres kept their orginal names and others made up new names. The teams were as follows:

Pentwyn Parrots

Fairwater Flyers

Eastern Eels

Llanishen Otters

Star Sharks

Western Wave Warriors

Tracey's Turtles - this was to honour Tracey in her retirement at Maindy

The event was very well attended and it was amazing to see such a massive buzz around the place. Everyone who took part did themselves proud and their parents.

The event took a lot of organising, so a massive thanks must go out to all staff members that made it happen from hosting to time keeping to arranging the logistics.

Jodie Powell the Aquatics Hub Manager for Wales & South West said:

"I knew the Gala would be good, but what I witnessed on the day surpassed anything I had imagined. The energy, excitement and sense of community throughout the event were incredible, and seeing so many swimmers and spectators come together was a real testament to the commitment and hard work of everyone involved. It was a day that showcased everything that is great about our Swim School programme. The atmosphere throughout the day was absolutely amazing, and to see so many participants and spectators come together was an incredible achievement"

Congratulations to Eastern Eels were the winners, just beating Tracey's Turtles to the Top spot. Well done to all the swimmers who took part, you were awsome!

We can't wait for next years event!
